This field of engineering is not just about the routine of computer systems themselves, but how they interact with the bigger picture. Computer engineers can choose to work in many areas such as network communication, automatic control and use, multimedia, image processing, machine vision and smart applications. They work in a variety of fields including manufacturing, medical, transportation, telecommunications, government, mining and finance, or any industry that requires knowledgeable staff in the design and use of computer hardware, especially computer networks and other equipment.
The Master of Engineering (Computer) provides graduate engineers with relevant training and technical expertise in the design and development of hardware and embedded systems. You will develop the special skills needed to lead the process of innovation in the sector. The University of Wollongong is Australia's leading engineering research center, based on our long-standing partnership with domestic and international industries and research institutes in Australia and abroad. The Australian Research Council ranked our financial research as 'above and beyond the world', and our construction, manufacturing, research and technology engineering as 'above-ground to work'.
The University of Wollongong offers world-class research opportunities and advanced training in student research. Their research teams in software technology, artificial intelligence and data analytics, distributed systems and IoT, human computing partnerships, and IT education for the future help industries and give their students a competitive edge. The Computer Engineering program combines the theoretical and practical information needed to build a computer program from scratch. It gives students the opportunity to launch a computer program as part of an existing engineering program such as managing an industrial plant or equipment. This degree focuses on the underlying principles and techniques so that graduates can learn and apply new technologies as they emerge in the future. This integrated degree program enables students to gain expertise in both fields, with special emphasis on the areas where these fields interact.
