Engineering is crucial to solving major global challenges. Engineers are needed to support communities by designing and building sustainable cities, building transit systems, designing and building a telecommunications network, the Internet and computers. Engineers are designing systems for ensuring the clean water of many people of the world, finding sources of energy that do not pollute, creating ways to help healthy and aging life and to develop health and wellness technologies. Engineers are team players and many become CEOs and entrepreneurs, engineering graduates running into two of the world's largest companies, nearly twice as many as the next largest. Learn the basics of engineering, both technical and social skills, and use your knowledge in real-life situations to prepare you for engineering and the future at UOW-approved engineering level.
The University of Wollongong offer first-year study that allows you to learn more about engineering and its different fields before deciding which subject to study. The first regular year is to provide you with the basic foundations of math, mathematics, physics, chemistry, computing, engineering and communications, machinery, materials and water. Then focus on your major subject of choice from the second year. The Bachelor of Engineering degree enters the placement in the handicraft industry at 12 weeks. You can gain credit for relevant work experience, whether in Australia or overseas, by participating in our Professional Choice Program.
Engineers work in a variety of industries, for example, construction, mining, utilities, aeronautical, electronic, engineering management, telecommunications, energy production and distribution, renewable energy, aerospace, water resources management, robots and manufacturing, rail and shipbuilding.
